The new contract will see the relationship extended for a further four years and the deployment of Eagle-i’s technology across HomeServe’s national commercial vehicle fleet. Commenting on the new contract, Guy Bruce, HomeServe’s Commercial and Business Transformation Director, said: “Eagle-i’s award-winning Monitor3 system offers us a very clear means of achieving our major operational, commercial and environmental goals, including the significant opportunity to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions through better job despatch, route planning and driver speed awareness.” Ian Walmsley, Chief Executive of Eagle-i Telematics, said: “This is clearly a very significant contract for Eagle-i and a valuable endorsement of both the new Monitor3 fleet management system and the project implementation capabilities of Ei Consulting, Eagle-i’s professional services division. “Ei Consulting has worked closely with senior HomeServe management in recent months to identify major operational cost savings across HomeServe’s national commercial fleet, including reduced fuel spend, lower vehicle maintenance costs and reduced carbon footprint. “We now look forward to building on our existing working relationship to ensure HomeServe achieves its stretching operational, environmental and corporate-social responsibility objectives.” Integral to the new contract has been Eagle-i’s award-winning Monitor3 telematics system, which employs KPI and exception reporting in a uniquely visual dashboard format. A key component of Monitor3 is Eagle-i’s Speed Management Module. It identifies speeding behaviours on all types of roads at all times of the day and night. And it provides top-level analysis for fleet managers to identify where speed has been used inappropriately and provide the detailed information that allows remedial action to be taken. An effective speed management programme can reduce fuel usage by between 8-12% and deliver the equivalent reduction in carbon emissions – two major objectives that are currently at the top of most board agendas. At the same time, effective speed management will reduce all associated accident costs, including insurance, which is further good news for company managers. Eagle-i’s new professional services division, Ei Consulting, headed up by Simon Jackson, has worked extensively to model the cost savings that could be achieved within HomeServe’s operations. Ei Consulting was set up earlier this year to help fleet customers realise the full benefits of installing telematics systems of any make, and to show them how to maximise the returns from adopting an integrated telematics approach. Research now confirms that this approach can deliver ROI multiples of five to eight times the initial investment. But it also shows that when left to their own devices, companies have difficulty achieving the initial benefits that they have set out to attain. Head of EI Consulting, Simon Jackson, said: “Through our consultancy framework we work with clients to accelerate and maximise the return of investment achievable from telematics. “In a congested marketplace this integrated approach differentiates our proposition further and demonstrates our commitment to delivering customer value. HomeServe is just one example of this methodology working in practice,” he added.
