Implementation

Visibility - Measurement - Management

A full telematics implementation can help revolutionise the way an organisation conducts its business.

Telematics gives management real time visibility of activities as they take place in the field. Not only does this empower an organisation to be more responsive it enables management to measure the REAL performance of its mobile workforce.

With these new KPIs in place inefficiencies in existing processes are exposed and the opportunities to make organisation wide improvements revealed.

By removing the “blinkers”, telematics solutions are both the catalysts and the enablers of change. Change that if managed effectively can result in radical performance improvements, better utilisation of capacity and greater customer satisfaction.

However, implementation and benefits realisation are the first stages.

Eagle-i’s MIP is a set of logical but managed stages that start and finish with benefits planning and realisation.

Some of the key activities at each stage include:

Define Objectives & Benefits Planning

To tie in with any previous processes undertaken, a Strategic Benefits Review or a Business Case Justification; this stage ensures that the objectives are clearly stated and specific benefits are targeted for delivery.

Finalise User Requirements

Though scalability and flexibility are solution attributes, it is important to sign off the user requirements as this communicates the level of functionality the system will deliver.

System Build & Configuration

Match in-vehicle solutions to vehicle groups on the fleet; and set up a user hierarchy in Monitor2 that meets the clients requirements for access to and distribution of information.

Communication, Installation & Training

Inform all “stakeholders” that the system is to be installed, the objectives for it and the benefits that it will bring both to the organisation and “stakeholder groups” directly. Training sessions for drivers, users, administrators and manager will deal with specifics.

Data Analysis & Report Customisation

Examine post installation data and configuration of reporting system to ensure that the right information reaches specific user groups in the most appropriate and usable fashion.

Benefits Review & Further Actions

Assess which benefits have been realised, and importantly those that have not been. Remedial actions can then be put in place and further progress measured at the next review. Benefits reviews should be carried out at monthly intervals initially and then continued quarterly.
